Dashlane Will Support Google’s Pixel 4 Face Unlock

The much-hyped Pixel 4 ships next week with a brand new security feature, face unlock authentication. Dashlane users who get the phone will now be able to use Google’s facial recognition for an even more seamless login experience.

Gone are the days when iris scanning only existed in sci-fi movies. That technology is already here—and increasingly in the palm of your hand. From airport kiosks to mobile devices, biometric functionalities are becoming more and more common.

Why use biometrics?

At Dashlane, we’re committed to making your digital life easier. You are the only you there is. That’s why biometrics (specific physical characteristics such as your fingerprint, iris, or face) are a simple, secure way to log into accounts. Easy to set up, once you’ve enabled biometrics on your device, you can conveniently log into Dashlane without typing in your Master Password. Access all your passwords, files, and secure data within seconds.

Your whole Dashlane account, at your fingertips—or, should we say, fingerprints.

How does Dashlane use my biometric data?

Dashlane uses zero-knowledge architecture to keep your information safe. Everything in your account is encrypted behind your Master Password, so your data can only be accessed locally once you’ve logged into your Dashlane account on your device.

What now?

The biometric method you can use depends on your device’s capabilities. Dashlane’s support for face authentication is only available on Android 10, with support for fingerprint recognition available on older versions.

You’ll still need your Master Password for logging into certain sites or accessing your Dashlane account from other devices, so we’ll ask you to enter it from time to time to make sure you don’t forget it.

Dashlane makes the internet faster and easier to navigate. Our biometrics integration is just one way that we’re helping you dash online.

*UPDATE: There have been some security issues raised with the Pixel 4 which Google is working to solve.
